Lagos Govt To Train Street Sweepers In London

LAWMA_CleanersThe Lagos State Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) would soon be sending some sweepers to the United Kingdom for training.

The move is drawing some flak from Lagosians, on the heels of protest against the introduction of toll on the Epe highway

Managing Director of LAWMA, Mr. Ola Oresanya said the training would enrich their knowledge on how the environment is kept clean in more development climes.

He spoke at a workshop for sweepers held at Blue Roof, LTV8 Ground, Ikeja, Lagos.

Oresanya also said that 12 sweepers were sponsored to this year’s Holy Pilgrimage to Mecca and Jerusalem by the state government.

It was however not clear when the trip will commence and how many will be the beneficiaries.
