Researchers in Australia have named a new species of fly in honour of new mum Beyonce Knowles.

He explained that the fly’s colour helped him pick the name; “It was the unique dense golden hairs on the fly’s abdomen that led me to name this fly in honour of the performer Beyoncé as well as giving me the chance to demonstrate the fun side of taxonomy – the naming of species.”

The star isn’t the only member of the family to have their name honoured- the Daily Mail reported that 12 day old Blue Ivy has had a strain of marijuana named after her.
